More reasons for using native plants.

For the sake of our wildlife - we need to think local.

More reasons for using native plants.

I can see from the above post that I lost sight of my main focus; we need to drastically cut down on the numbers of foreign plant species imported if we are to protect our own natives and also stop the problem of incredibly invasive plants such as Japanese Knotweed, Himalayan Balsam and Giant Hogweed.

There is also the problem of more pollution created by the transportation of these plants.

I'm not keen on the idea of importing other species in order to deal with one already existing. I have heard the government is considering importing some kind of beetle in order to reduce the Japanese Knotweed. I have memories of seeing reports on this solution going horribly wrong. The Florida Everglades and Australia spring to mind, I'll do a little digging around to find out more, in the meantime please do start discussing.
